SnorkelMatch

Safety disclaimer

Snorkeling carries real risks, including drowning. Please read this before you rely on anything on this site.

General information only

Everything on SnorkelMatch, the size finder, the quiz and the guides, is general information compiled from the makers' published charts and from official and scientific sources. It is not medical advice, not safety training and not professional advice of any kind, and it does not replace any of them.

What we ask you to do

  • Never snorkel alone. Snorkel with a buddy, and choose places with lifeguards when you can.
  • Know your limits: your swimming ability, the conditions, how tired you are. When in doubt, stay out.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your mask and snorkel, including age, size and use limits.
  • Follow local lifeguard, park and ocean safety guidance, and check conditions before you go in.
  • Practice breathing through your gear and taking it off on land before you use it in the water.
  • If you have a heart, lung or other health condition, or take medication that affects balance or judgment, talk to a doctor before snorkeling.

Children

Children need adult supervision at all times in and near water. Follow each manufacturer's minimum age and size guidance for any mask or snorkel; we do not set age limits of our own. See the kids' guide for the official supervision guidance.

Sizes and fit

Size results reflect the makers' published charts as of the date shown and may change. Fit varies with face shape. Always try a mask on, do the seal test, and check the seller's return policy. We do not guarantee fit.

No endorsements

We did not test masks and do not say that any product is suitable or appropriate for you. Brand names belong to their owners; no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied. Where an official body has issued a warning about a product, our guides link to it.
