Medical disclaimer

Please read this before you rely on anything on this site.

General information only

Everything on SnorkelMatch, the fit finder, the quiz and the guides, is general information compiled from the makers' published fitting and sizing guides and from official sources such as the FDA, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. It is not medical advice and it does not replace your doctor, your sleep team or your equipment supplier.

Sleep apnea is diagnosed and treated by a doctor

  • Only a medical provider can diagnose sleep apnea, usually with a sleep study in a lab or at home. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis.
  • Your pressure and machine settings are set by your sleep doctor. Do not change them yourself, and do not take anything on this site as advice to change them.
  • Talk to your sleep doctor or equipment supplier before you change masks, mask types or sizes.
  • If you choke or gasp for breath at night, feel very sleepy in the day, or have stomach discomfort or bloating with your machine, see a doctor. In an emergency, call 911.

Masks are prescription devices

In the United States, a CPAP mask is a prescription medical device (labeled “Rx only”). It is ordered through your doctor and fitted by your equipment supplier. SnorkelMatch sells nothing and never suggests buying a mask without a prescription. See why a CPAP mask needs a prescription.

Masks with magnets

Some masks use magnetic headgear clips. FDA notices say these should not be used by, or near, people with certain implants, and that the magnets should be kept at least 6 inches (about 15 cm) from other implants. If you or anyone who sleeps near you has an implant, read the FDA notices and ask your doctor.

Sizes and fit

We link the makers' official sizing guides; makers change them. S, M and L differ from one mask family to the next, fit varies from face to face, and the fitting is done with your supplier. We do not guarantee fit.

No endorsements

We did not test masks, we have no medical staff, and we do not say that any product is suitable for you. Brand names belong to their owners; no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement is implied. Where an official body has issued a notice about a product, our guides link to it.
